Day 10 a little better

I was able to sit through breakfast and dinner without the excruciating pain. The past few days I really went downhill right after breakfast and it didnt happen so much today. This of course is all relative to the past few days. Im still bringing 3 pillows to the table - one to sit on and two behind me, it hurts but its not agony so I am headed in the right direction.

It was still more of the same Eat, Walk, Rest, Repeat. Tomorrow will be a repeat of today.

I packed a couple of things today so that I dont wear myself out doing it all on Saturday.

Yes David, Jean and I have been laughing because now my husband is quoting ya'll with "slow and steady wins the race" in his emails - too funny.

I most certainly didn't create the "slow and steady wins the race" quote, but I think it most definitely applies to ADR recovery.

I definitely found myself (at times) thinking about how great I felt, but tried to remind myself to take it easy! (which is a challenge)

You will get there!

Cheryl, Eat, walk, rest and repeat reminds me of the old people at the nursing home I used to work in. Well almost, there it was eat, walk, drink after shave and rest. I believe aqua velva was the drink of choice. By the way isn't slow and steady how you ran the Corporate Challenge. But in all seriousness follow the advice that has been prescribed. Get well. You have all the time in the world to heal plus the support of many. Chris

one step at a time cheryl you will get there. the offer still stands if you have any trouble in philly.
you must good at your good days believe me it will get better in time. you must give your body a chance to heal and heal it must. remember you only have one chance to heal.
another thing watch your posture very important. you cant be sitting like you did before your surgery follow me? jean you were and are a god sent no kidding cheryl if you send as much energy on worrying and direct it to seeing the positive steps you are making you will do great. believe me and david you must give it a chance. also i am sure i can speak for david also that you can lean on us for anything that has to do with your adr recovery we both will be there for you.

Well, there are lots of pillows at this house and 3 little girls who are looking forward to seeing Mama. Sophia's so cute- when I told her Mom was coming home soon, she said,"Mama is coming home to see Sophia." Mandi just made a very long word with her foam letters and told me I had to say, "Holy-moly!" when I went to look at them. Kristin is at Brownies right now doing the International food exchange. All 3 girls helped make anginetti cookies for her contribution.

Continue to rest and be upbeat. All your (and our) friends and family are asking about you and sending good wishes and prayers.

Thank goodness for Chuck, David and the rest of the ADR Support group.

Love,
Mom

Sounds like you need to get through this one day at a time.
It will all be worth it in the end.
Hope we can still have our movie date when you get back home!
We still have not seen 21 dresses!
Can't wait til you are back!

Cheryl,

In the years before my surgery, whenever I did something that caused severe pain, I'd wonder, "is this going to be for 3 days, 3 weeks or 3 months." I knew that I was going to get better when I'd have a setback, rest for a few hours, then want to get up again. Pain became less and less, but even the severe setbacks seemed to blow over quickly. If you are already experiencing a little version of this, that makes me hopeful that you are dealing with surgical pain and inflammation.

I'm not a 'slow and steady' kind of person... I'm more likely to say something like, "drive fast, take chances!" (Except with recovering from spine surgery!)

All the best,

Mark

Think about how far you've come in just 10 days!!! 2 meals sitting is 2 meals sitting. I think it is great that you are tracking your progress. This will allow you to focus on the positive:)Hope the flight goes well.
